Portageville to celebrate its 70th Annual Soybean Festival
"Rollin' On The River" is this year's theme for Portageville's 70th Annual National Soybean Festival. Let the float building begin if you have not already!
Parade changes-
The Kiddie Parade will be on Tuesday, September 26. Free entry - up to age 12 categories: Walking Characters, Wheels Pets, and Motorized.
The Grand Float Parade will begin at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 28.
For parade entries for both parades, please contact the Portageville Chamber of Commerce via their Facebook page, email at info@portagevillechamber.com, or call Tonya at 573-748-0859. Prizes will be awarded in the float categories and band competition at the Grand Stage at the end of the parade.
Please note these important changes:
1. Only one float category in the Kiddie Parade; floats may not measure more than 10' long; DECORATING THE PULLING VESSEL IS NOT MANDATORY, BUT IT COULD AFFECT OVERALL SCORING.
2. New category WHEELS will include anything that is on wheels--ie bikes, strollers, battery powered vehicles, wagons, etc--they will all be judged together
3. Grand Parade has 2 float categories. Mini Floats are 10' and under and Maxi Floats are anything over 10'. Mini floats that participated in the Kiddie Parade are encouraged to enter with a chance to win more money.
The festival begins Saturday, September 23 with Main Street Madness and concludes Thursday night, September 28.
Saturday's events begin with a 5K run/walk sponsored by SRG Global beginning with a 7:30 AM registration.
Soybean Shuffle-
Race entry fee after September 8th and through the day of the race is $25. T-shirts will be provided on a first-come, first serve basis. Registration and sign-in begins at 7:30 AM and race starts at 8:00 AM. Registration forms are available at SRG global, 101 Meatte Avenue. Signed registration forms are required for each participant.
All proceeds will be distributed back into our community with the Toys for Tots And Food Drive.
Additionally, there will be a Kid's Fun run on Saturday, September 24. Bring your kids ages 12 and under to the Main Street Madness Stage at 12 noon to participate in their very own fun run. Pre-registration or sign up the day of the race. Entry fee is $5.00 per child. T-shirts also provided to those that pre-register. First, Second and Third place winners will be recognized.

The Miss Soybean Queen contest-
At 10:00am, the 70th Annual National Soybean Pageants, sponsored by the Portageville Chamber of Commerce, will take place on the Grand Stage. Girls from all over the Missouri Bootheel are welcome to participate in the annual pageant.
Girls ages 6-19 may compete in the other aged categories. Young Jr. Miss Soybean, ages 9-12; Junior Miss Soybean, ages 13-15; and Miss Soybean, ages 16-19. Pageant fees for all ages is $35 on the day of the pageant.
All contestants must arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. at Southern Elegance Flowers behind the stage on Main Street to receive number and register.

Young children can participate in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority's Little Mr. and Miss Soybean pageant. This event will be held in the Portageville Elementary gymnasium at 2:00 pm. Age categories are Tiny Mr. & Miss Soybean: 13-23 months, Little Mr. & Miss Soybean: 2-3 years, Jr. Mr. & Miss Soybean: 4-5 years. for more information, please contact Jody Kelly at 573-379-6447.
Second Annual Talent show-
Many have watched “America's Got Talent”. Be apart of the 70th Annual National Soybean Festival and participate in the second Portageville's Got Talent show! It is open to all ages and will be held on Main Street Monday, September 25 from 6:30 to 8:80 p.m.
The organizers are looking for Singers, Impersonators, Instrumentalists, Comedians, Dancers, Ventriloquists, and Jugglers! What is your talent?
You are asked to bring your own music, instruments and props.

A Community Church Service, sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance, will be held on Wednesday, September 27 at 7:00pm on the Main Street Stage. Bring your lawn chairs.
Lastly, the Portageville Bulldogs will celebrate their Homecoming Football game against East Prairie at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 29. Come out and support the Bulldogs!
