Vera Scherer, 94

Vera Scherer, 94, of Portageville, was born October 28,1922, in Portageville, to Barney Scherer and Mary Eftink Scherer, and departed this life September 6, 2017 at St. Andrew's at Francis Place in Eureka, Mo.

Vera was known for her carmel pies, rose garden, card playing and her quilting. She and her sister, Georgia, were businesswomen and owned L & S Hardware and Lester Furniture Company in Portageville for many years. She was a member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Scherer Clark (Herman) of Sikeston, Mo. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, as well as her friends.

She was preceded her in death by her parents, Barney and Mary Scherer; four brohters, Richard Scherer, Gilbert Scherer, Jim Scherer and Bud Scherer; and two sisters, Edna Scherer Christian and Georgia Scherer.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Eustachius Catholic Church. Interment was in Portageville Cemetery.
