June Huck, 87

June Bernice Huck, of Portageville, was born June 18, 1930, in Corinth, Miss. To Goldman Carroll and Bertha (Scott) Carroll, and departed this life October 17, 2017 at Portageville Healthcare Center at the age of 87 years.

She was a member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church, and of Lady's of Sodality. She loved playing cards with friends, shopping, quilting and sewing, and baking, as she was known as the “Queen of Cakes.” She never met a stranger and loved talking to people, but her family gatherings were her favorite.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. O.A. Huck of Portageville; sons, James (Bettie) Huck of Cape Girardeau, and Joseph (Ann) Huck of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Judy (Ray) McGovern of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Jana (Jay) Hill of Kennesaw, Ga., and Junilla (Darl) Bivins of Portageville; daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Huck of Portageville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jewell Evitts of Corinth, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldman and Bertha (Scott) Carroll; one son, Johnny Carroll Huck (Dec. 29, 2016); and a brother, Jack Carroll.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville with Father Daniel Robles officiating. Interment was in Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Travis Huck, Kevin McMillion, Josh Huck, David Sexton Paul Schmidt, Josh Roberts and Jason Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.
