The Portageville Chamber of Commerce is once again rolling out the snowy carpet for the Annual Christmas Open House! The event will be held this weekend, November 10th-12th. Visitors can expect traditional offerings as well as new and exciting features, too!

Open House kicks of Friday, November 10th with a free Community Movie Night to be held on the Community Center lawn. There will be two short kid's Christmas films shown as well as concessions available from the Chamber of Commerce. "Our hope is to bring people of all ages out for a fellowship and fun as we ignite the feeling of Christmas within our town," says Dr. Clint Klipfel, Chamber President. The movie will be held inside the community center if raining.

Guests can expect a magical moment as the Town Christmas Tree is lit Saturday evening, November 11th, at 5:30 pm. Everyone is invited to gather at the Portageville Fire Department as we dedicate the 2017 Christmas Tree, light it up, and sing carols around the tree."

"The success and feedback that we received from this event last year was remarkable! We knew it had to become an annual tradition, and we can't wait to see everyone's faces as we once again light up the big, colorful town tree, Klipfel said. Guests are then invited to Shop on Main at local merchants from 6-8:30 pm; they will be offering plenty of Christmas decorations, sweet treats and unique gifts for everyone on your list! And what would Christmas be without Santa and Mrs. Claus. They will be available at the Main Stage on Main Street from 6:00-7:30pm for pictures and gifts. Kids 0-12 are invited! And don't forget to bring a letter to Santa that he can take back to the North Pole! Be sure to include child's full name and address so that a return letter may be mailed from Santa! The Christmas Open House will conclude Sunday, November 14th with Shopping on Main again from 1:00-4:00pm. The Chamber is beyond excited to announce that carriage rides will be available all afternoon! "We want to bring in that Hallmark, hometown feel to Portageville," Klipfel said. Children ride free; adults ride for $5.00.  Both Saturday and Sunday, there will be a "Selfie with an Elfie" contest as well as a scavenger hunt with lots of great prizes up for grabs so be sure to join us for the entire weekend! The Chamber of Commerce looks forward to ringing in the Christmas season with you!
