GUN BARREL, Texas -- W.A. "Dub" Williams Jr., 74, of Gun Barrel, Texas, passed away Monday, Feb.12, 2018.
He was born Aug. 4, 1943. His parents are the late J.P. and Virginia Johnson Holland of New Madrid.
On June 5, 1965, in Catron, he married Vicki Ann Denton. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Vicki Williams of Gun Barrel, Texas; his three children, Valerie DeMoss and her husband Robert of Ozark, Joanna Lupien and her husband Kevin of Forney, Texas, Wesley Williams and his wife Hilary of Double Oak, Texas; six grandchildren, Matthew and Mason DeMoss, Anna Lupien, Kaitlyn, Allison and Olivia Williams; his sisters, Sandra Giddons of Lilbourn, Patty McIntosh of New Madrid, Kathy King of New Madrid; and one brother, Jerry Wayne Holland of Catron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger sister, Pamela Jones.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel, Texas, and was their finance director since 2008. He loved this post-retirement job and saw it as a way to serve the Lord and his church. Dub loved living at the lake, fishing from the dock in his backyard and celebrating his favorite holiday, the Fourth of July, with spectacular fireworks displays with his family around him.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with Bryon Jones, pastor, officiating.
He will be laid to rest at Mounds Cemetery in New Madrid,.
