Ed Slott and Company

SIKESTON -- Michael L. Parker completed his semi-annual training with Ed Slott and Company, LLC in Kansas City on Oct. 26-28. The workshop, which was attended by members of Ed Slott's Master Elite IRA Advisor Group, provided in-depth technical training on advanced retirement account planning strategies, estate planning techniques and new tax laws, including a special focus on Roth IRA planning as the 20th anniversary of the Roth IRA is Jan. 1, 2018.

"Roth IRAs were first introduced in 1998, and after spending the last 20 years of my career educating both financial professionals and consumers on retirement account planning strategies, I can say that many Americans are just as confused about the rules surrounding Roth IRAs as they were 20 years ago," said Ed Slott, CPA, founder of Ed Slott and Company and a nationally recognized IRA expert who was named "The Best Source for IRA Advice" by the Wall Street Journal. "I commend Parker, who has been associated with our advanced training program for 10 years, for staying current with his retirement planning education so that he can best serve his clients. With this ongoing training, Parker can confidently answer his clients' toughest Roth IRA questions and provide them with knowledgeable advice and insight."

Highlights from this event included: an in-depth look at Net Unrealized Appreciation (NUA) planning and strategies, a review of the once-per-year IRA rollover rule, planning strategies for non-spouse beneficiaries, tax reduction strategies and planning for state estate taxes, legacy planning strategies and an examination of the latest IRA case studies and rulings, as well as a special session dedicated to the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Roth IRA. The session detailed the history of the Roth IRA and included frequently asked questions about this type of retirement account.

Ryan, Missouri Vein Care opens clinic in Cape Girardeau

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Dr. Michael Ryan and Missouri Vein Care are proud to announce the opening of their clinic in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Missouri Vein Care is a specialty clinic and focuses exclusively on diagnosing and treating venous disorders. Ryan will be providing medical services at this clinic, which is located at 2917 Independence Drive, Suite 200; Cape Girardeau, MO 63703.

Vein disorders are a common cause of decreased circulation, leg and foot symptoms and impaired mobility in the United States. These conditions affect one in three adults and are a significant economic burden due to decreased wages and medical cost, accounting for over $46 billion annually in the US.

New minimally invasive vein treatments rely on laser energy to close off abnormal veins without surgery or incisions. These advanced outpatient treatments are successful, safe and have led to the creation of the new medical specialty of venous and lymphatic Medicine.

Ryan is a graduate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, and he completed general surgery residency at University of Minnesota. Ryan completed cardiac and vascular surgery residency and trained with Dr. Denton Cooley at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. He is board certified in venous and lymphatic medicine, general surgery and cardiovascular surgery. Vein care relies heavily on ultrasound technology for diagnosis and treatment, and Ryan is also a registered physician in vascular ultrasound interpretation and a registered vascular ultrasound technologist.

After practicing as a cardiovascular surgeon for 10 years, Ryan found a passion for vein care and has specialized in treating vein disease since 2007.

He says "I am excited to see the benefits of improved circulation as patients undergo treatment. Their symptoms resolve and they become more energetic as the circulation improves. It is very satisfying to see."

Missouri Vein Care was established in 2005 and is a specialty clinic which focuses exclusively on diagnosing and treating venous disorders at six clinics in Missouri: Jefferson City, Columbia, Hannibal, Rolla, Poplar Bluff, and Cape Girardeau.
