JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Don Rone would like to invite residents of the Missouri Bootheel to attend the formal announcement of the opening of a new smelter in New Madrid County, MO. Magnitude 7 Metals is currently hiring staff for the new mill which could total close to 400 new jobs for the area. The mill is located at the former Noranda Aluminum smelter.

Congressman Jason Smith, Governor Eric Greitens, Missouri State Representatives and Senators, as well as the management of Magnitude 7 Metals will be attending the announcement.

"This project has been two long years in the making,” said Rone, R-Portageville. “So many people have dedicated their time and efforts to make this happen, and I could not be more happy for the people of the Bootheel. New industry is coming to our area because our people are hard workers and driven to do their best.”

The announcement will take place at the St. Jude Industrial Park in New Madrid County on Friday, March 9th, 2018 at 12:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend and celebrate the newest chapter in Missouri manufacturing.

“I am so excited to see this steel mill positively affect our communities. The people of the Bootheel have always been resilient and had an undeniable work ethic. I’m proud that so many of our friends and neighbors will benefit from Magnitude 7 opening their doors in the Bootheel,” said Rone.
