Joseph Paul Priggel, 77, of Portageville, was born January 28, 1941, in Portageville, to Paul Vincent Priggel and Jane Brands Priggel, and departed this life Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was united in marriage September 11, 1963, in Duluth, Minn., to Mary Lou Ferrin, who survives of the home.
He was a member of the St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville. God gave him many grateful years to work the land in his hometown, where he spent many hours farming alongside his family. He cherished the time spent with all his family, especially his grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Priggel of Portageville; sons, Joey (Heather) Priggel of Portageville and Shawn Priggel of Durham, N.C.; daughters, Kelly (Michael)McHale of Quincy, Ill., Tricia (Kevin) Rone of Portageville, Katy (Daryl) Cunningham of Camdenton, Mo., and Teresa (Nick) Brandon of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy (Edward) Riley of New Madrid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jane Priggel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville. Burial was in Portageville Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be sent to American Alzheimer's Association.
