Ruth Swilley

Ruth Marie Swilley, 91, of Portageville, was born July 30, 1926, in Conran, Mo., to Jahn and Georgia Attberry, and departed this life Friday, March 2, 2018 at her residence.

She was united in marriage August 9, 1946, in Benton, Mo., to Cody Swilley, Jr. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Ruth was a member of Boekerton Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and cooking, and cherished every moment spent with her family.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Jim (Judy) Swilley of Conran, Larry (Alice) Swilley of J.Y., Gary (Tammy) Swilley of Lilbourn, Mo., and Steve (Amber) Swilley of Conran; her daughters, Lynda Jennings of Salem, Ky., Mary Ruth (James) Ferguson of Marston, Mo.;16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Lezet Murphy of New Madrid.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Georgia Attberry; her husband, Cody Swilley; one son, Jerry Swilley; two sisters, Mary Swilley and Opal Tims; two brothers, Elmer Attberry and Claude Attberry; a grandson, Jeremy Ferguson; a granddaughter, Amber Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Higgerson.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 5, 2018 in the DeLisle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Portageville Cemetery.
