NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Roger Brooks, 69, died March 8, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born June 5, 1948, in Kennett, Mo., son of the late Robert "RC" Brooks and Lucille Hale Summerfield, he was an army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 595 in New Madrid, VFW in Lilbourn, New Madrid Eagles Club and Big Prairie Jaycees in Matthews. He retired after 40 years as a foreman with the Laborers Local 1104 and was a member of the New Beginnings Church.
Survivors include: one son, Roger Brooks of Matthews, Mo.; four daughters, Shelley Barberich of East Prairie, Mo., Danielle and Tony Mitchell of Portland, Tenn., Melissa Horton of Sebring, Fla. and Shannon and Robert Hinkle of East Prairie; two sisters, Sherry Russell of East Prairie and Kim Blasingain of East Prairie; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Brooks.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid with Randy Eskew officiating.
Burial will follow at Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie.
Pallbearers will be: Hayden Dawson, Roy Russell, Robert Hinkle, Bill Rodman, Tony Jones and Don Hart.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Polk, Grady Williford and Ricky Huff.
