Ruby Spencer

SIKESTON -- Ruby Lorene Spencer, age 94, passed away on March 6, 2018, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 11, 1923, in Catron, to the late James William and Edna Shaffer Helms, she was a member of the First Assembly of God in Sikeston for the past 36 years.

On Nov. 17, 1941, in New Madrid, she married Harvey Spencer Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1994.

Survivors include: one son, Curtis and Sharon Spencer of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marlene Davidson of Matthews and Linda and Lin Roberts of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Trina Holt of Dogwood, Christy Bye of Sikeston, Teiffney Tyler of Sikeston, Amy Whitten of Sikeston, Chris Hartlein of Jackson, John David Spencer II of Princeton, Ind., Elisabeth Cooper of Sikeston, Alvin Hillis of Sikeston, Cyretha Hillis of Blodgett and Jennita Williams of East Prairie; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John David Spencer and Harvey Spencer; one grandson, Todd Hartlein; and two granddaughters, Peggy and Milissa Spencer.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Dwayne Maynard, pastor of TAG Church in Little Rock, Ark., officiating.

Interment will follow at Matthews Cemetery in Matthews.

Pallbearers will be: Jacob Holt, Chris Hartlein, Chris Cooper, John David Spencer II, Wes Bye and Keith Tyler.

Honorary pallbearers will be: David Whitten III, Jackson Bye, Alvin Hillis, Carson Harlein, Logan Cude and Cord Sheehy.
