NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Charles Larry "Yogi" Briggs, 74, died March 4, 2018, at his home in New Madrid.
Born Feb. 3, 1944, in Malden, son of the late Theresa "Marie" LeSieur Briggs and Charles Duke Briggs, he served three years in the U.S Navy, and was a member of the local VFW, American Legion 595. He was past commander and a member of the Color Guard and the New Madrid Eagles. He was a retired teacher from Portageville Schools and continued to substitute teach after his retirement.
Survivors include: two cousins, Voyce Green of Florida and Phyllis Alexander of Mantachie, Miss.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one uncle, John LeSieur; and one aunt, Kathleen Robbs.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Thursday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with the Rev. Byron Willard officiating.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
