CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- George Edward Collins, 84, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at St. Anthony Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born Sept. 12, 1933, in Tiptonville, Tenn., son of the late WM Lloyd and Genevieve Godwin Collins, he served in the Army and worked for Southwestern Bell for over 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
On May 7, 1954, at Bloomfield, he married Doris J. Springs, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his two daughters, Marla (Larry) Cruse of St. Louis and Marsha (Jim) Stewart of Boonville; one son, Michael E. (Margie) Collins of St. Louis; one brother, Lowell Collins of Union City, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Matthew Collins, Megan (Gary) Delhougne, Tyler (Jessica) Stewart and Allison Stewart.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Huffstutter; and one brother, Billy M. Collins.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, where the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, with the Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Sikeston.
