NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Rose Lee Kern, 76, died March19, 2018, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 9, 1942, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Ruddle Otto and Mary Stevens Gloth, she was a retired piece matcher for Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau. After retirement she worked for Walmart deli in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg and St. Ann Sodality. She was a former president and current member of the New Hamburg Homemaker's Club and a former leader of the Eager Beavers 4-H Club.

On June 29, 1963, she married Robert "Duke" Kern. who preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Cate; and a brother, Michael Gloth.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Doug and Susan Kern of Oran; one sister, Karen Schmitt of Chaffee; two granddaughters, Jessica Kern of Cape Girardeau and Jamie Kern and her fiance Trenton Hency of Oran.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant.

Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery at New Hamburg.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
