Gerald Schlitt

ORAN, Mo. -- Gerald E. Schlitt, 74, died March 19, 2018, at his home.

Born Nov. 6, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Mose and Germaine Welter Schlitt, he was a self-employed farmer and retired from construction with Columbia Construction Company in Cape Girardeau. He was a member St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and a member of the Oran Knights of Columbus Council 4311.

On April 30, 1966, he married Bernadette DeBrock, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Stephanie (Dennis) Scheeter of Chaffee; Tina (Darren) LeGrand of St. Peters, Sherri (Roger) Wood and Stacey (Mark) Starnes of Oran; two brothers, Jerome Schlitt of Oran; Alfred Schlitt of Gordonville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Cummins.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. and rosary at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Randy Tochtorp as celebrant.

Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
