SIKESTON  Dennis Daryl "Doc" Mooneyhan, 63, passed away on March 13, 2018, at his home in Sikeston.

SIKESTON -- Dennis Daryl "Doc" Mooneyhan, 63, passed away on March 13, 2018, at his home in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 6, 1954, in Chicago, son of the late Chester Mooneyhan and Ann Mason Carnell of West Memphis, Ark., he went to Tabernacle Baptist Academy and West Memphis High school in West Memphis. He later attended college at Memphis State University in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church in Miner and the Elks Lodge 2319 in Sikeston, where he served as Loyal Knight. He wrote a sports column called Dr. D's Prophecies for the Daily Standard newspaper in Sikeston in the 1980s; he also enjoyed writing poems for family and friends. He was a former manager at Food Giant Supermarket in Sikeston and retired from Crossmark, where he worked in sales and marketing.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kristi Mooneyhan of Sikeston; one brother, Richard Mooneyhan of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Debra Whitaker of West Memphis,; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Mooneyhan of Cape Girardeau and Alexandria McPhail of Sikeston.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Bart Smith officiating. Elks Lodge 2319 will honor Mr. Mooneyhan at the beginning of the service with a memorial ritual.
