Jasper Grant
MORLEY, Mo. -- Warren Jasper Grant, age 84, died Sept. 7, 2016, at his home in Morley.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Morley, to the late Jasper Ernest Grant and Jessie Didama (Smith) Grant. He graduated from Morley High School in 1950 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morley. He was a farmer in Southeast Missouri most of his life along with owning the Grant City Elevator and Gin Company for a short time during his farming career. He moved to Louisiana around 1970 and began a successful aerial application business for about 15 years, he then retired and returned to live in Vanduser around 1990. He was a Mason 32nd degree, a member of the Shriner Horse Patrol, a member of the United States Flying Farmers and enjoyed duck hunting and crappie fishing. In his later life he enjoyed, and was very good at, building wooden model airplanes--he never liked flying them, just enjoyed building them.
Jasper is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jasper (Linda) Grant of Booneville, William (Julie) Grant and Randy (LeAnn) Grant all of Sikeston, and Jasper Warren (Judy) Grant Jr. of Bastrop, La.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marianna Musgrove (Bill Grays) of Morley and Sue (John) Crocker of Sikeston; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Austin, Logan, Trey, Kristen (Keith), Jasper, Jennifer, Faith, Janelle, Travis Grant and Tana; and three great-grandchildren.
Jasper was preceded in death by one son, Robert Grant.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Mike Wondel, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
Pallbearers will be: Austin Musgrove, Keith Grays, Travis Grant, Jesse Grant, Matt McKenzie and Bill Grays.
