ELDON, Mo. -- Betty Jean Fair, 79, died Oct. 31, 2016, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Born Jan. 12, 1937, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Amos Andrew and Blanche Alvey Holifield, she attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City and worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services as a data entry operator until her retirement in 1996.
On Oct. 15, 1954, in Charleston, she married Fred Fair, who survives of the home.
She is also survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Wayne and Lynda Fair of Arkansas, Jimmy Dwayne Fair of Virginia, Roy Lee Fair of Osage Beach and David Rodney and Debbie Fair of Eldon; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ronald James of Eldon; three brothers, Leonard Holifield of North Carolina, Jim Holifield of Fayetteville, N.C., and Andrew Holifield; one sister: Sharon Payne of Bertrand; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ray Holifield; and one sister, Mary Lousie Eftink.
Visitation is from1 p.m. until time of funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. The Rev. Alexander Nwagwu will officiate.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Chapel in Eldon.
