SIKESTON - Velma Linam, 82, died Dec. 18, 2016, at her home in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 21, 1934, in Lamar, Ark., to the late James and Edna Carolyne (Pierce) Hale, she was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church.

On Oct. 10, 1953, at Grant City, she married William Howard Linam Jr., who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, William Howard and Launa Linam III of Sikeston and James David and Tammy Linam of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, James Hale of Hartman, Ark.; three sisters, Nona Davis and Ellen Dugan of Lamar, Ark., and Evetta Young of Clarksville, Ark.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m Thursday, at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: William H. Linam III, James D. Linam, William H. Linam IV, Willy Palmer, Michael Palmer, Jim Hale, Floyd Patters, Doug Esham, Leonard Marlow, Timothy Bell and Ben Shaw.
