Virginia Proffer

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Virginia Lee Proffer, 90, died Jan. 8, 2017, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 26, 1926, in Chaffee, to the late Martin and Regina Ourth Kinder, she retired as a tacker for Buckstein Pants Factory in Chaffee then worked at Leeada's Department Store in Chaffee. She attended the Church of God in Chaffee

On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Robert Proffer, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1977.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Anna Kinder of Delta and Franklin and Theresa Proffer of Sikeston; 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Alvey Surface officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery.
