MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Eddie L. Polk, 65, died Jan. 10, 2017, at his home in Matthews. Born Jan. 23, 1951, in Canalou, son of the late Alvin and Evelyn Scott Polk, he served in the Vietnam War and was a Silver Star recipient. Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lucas and Dora Polk of Matthews and Aaron Polk of East Prairie; four brothers, Larry Polk, Lonnie Polk and Andrew Polk of Matthews and Joe Polk of Portageville; three sisters, Mable Walker and Lydia Howard of New Madrid and Gail Polk of Millington, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.. ...

MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Eddie L. Polk, 65, died Jan. 10, 2017, at his home in Matthews.

Born Jan. 23, 1951, in Canalou, son of the late Alvin and Evelyn Scott Polk, he served in the Vietnam War and was a Silver Star recipient.

Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lucas and Dora Polk of Matthews and Aaron Polk of East Prairie; four brothers, Larry Polk, Lonnie Polk and Andrew Polk of Matthews and Joe Polk of Portageville; three sisters, Mable Walker and Lydia Howard of New Madrid and Gail Polk of Millington, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Polk and Samuel Polk.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be at noon Thursday with Chris Polk, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews, officiating.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Pallbearers will be: Ray Mills, Dennis Burch, Micheal Pyles, Herbert Lathum, Teddy Lathum and Robert McNutt

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jimmy Burch, Wayne Parker, Mike Pearson, Rick Houston, Kenny Faulkner, Larry Gardner, Cordell Bixler, Melvin Belvin, Larry Gilmer, Brad Gilmer, David Lane and Chuck Daniels.
