DEXTER, Mo. - Melba J. Sherfield of Dexter, 95, died Jan. 8, 2017, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter.

Born Aug. 15, 1921, in Bloomfield, the daughter of the late Willie Aubrey and Grace Chasteen Fulkerson, she had lived in the Dexter area all her life. A homemaker, she was of the Methodist faith.

On Sept. 4, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she married Norman "Toby" Sherfield, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2002.

Surviving are: three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Maria Sherfield and Ronnie and Marlene Sherfield of Dexter and David and Kim Sherfield of Essex; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Eddie Hill and Dena Lyons all of Dexter, and Norma and David Corlew of Advance; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Sherfield; one grandson, Bryan Lee Sherfield; and one daughter Verna Jane Hampton.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Rev. Roy Sherfield officiating.

Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
