FT. WAYNE, Ind. -- James Alfred Haw, 71 died Jan. 9, 2017 at his home. Born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., son of the late James Moore Haw and Wanda Mary Milkowski Haw, he received his doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1972. He was a professor of American history from the colonial era to the Civil War, with Indiana University - Purdue University in Fort Wayne for 39 years...

FT. WAYNE, Ind. -- James Alfred Haw, 71 died Jan. 9, 2017 at his home.

Born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., son of the late James Moore Haw and Wanda Mary Milkowski Haw, he received his doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1972. He was a professor of American history from the colonial era to the Civil War, with Indiana University - Purdue University in Fort Wayne for 39 years.

He is survived by many cousins.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston, Mo. The Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
