Snider Birkman, he was a self-employed farmer and was a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. DELTA, Mo. - William "Bill" Birkman Jr., 91, died March 24, 2017, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 4, 1925, in Whitewater to the late William and Ida L. Snider Birkman, he was a self-employed farmer and was a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A member of The Church of God of Prophecy of Delta, he was also a member of Delta Senior Citizens Club.

On Aug. 17, 1944, at Paragould, Ark., he married Margaret M. Kinder, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2004.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Birkman of Advance and Timothy and Jamie Birkman of Chaffee; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley A. Givens; six sisters and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Daniel Baggett will officiate assisted by the Rev. Danny Freeland.

Burial will be at Barks Chapel Cemetery near Crump with full military honors.
