BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Evelyn "Granny" Crowell, 96, died March 31, 2017, at her granddaughter's home in Bloomfield.

Born Dec. 15, 1920, in Matthews, daughter of the late William "Bill" Marvin and Martha Jane Burroughs Latham, she had lived in Southeast Missouri all of her life. She and her husband lived at Birds Corner where they ran a family grocery store until it closed in 1969. They then farmed until ill health forced them to retire. In 1991, she moved to Dexter. She was of the Baptist belief.

On Sept. 4, 1937, in Charleston, she married Jack Crowell, who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1991.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Darrell Crowell; two daughters, Bonnie Sue Crowell and Patty Jane Tilley; two granddaughters; three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include: three grandchildren and spouses, Marty Starnes, John and Felicia "Pete" Tilley and Tammy and Danny Starnes of Bloomfield; and nine great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ray Rowland of Dexter officiating.

Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
