SIKESTON -- Emily June "Granny June" Burnett, 82, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Miner Nursing Center in Miner.
Born Feb. 28, 1935, in Jerusalem, Ark., to the late Paul A. Ruff and Cleo Beavers Ruff, she was a member of Eastside Nazarene Church in Sikeston and had been a tax preparer for H&R Block and was a certified nursing assistant for Sikeston Health Care before retiring at the age of 75 years.
On Dec. 5, 1955 she married Charles Ray Burnett; he preceded her in death June 11, 1966.
In addition to her husband and parents, three brothers, Marvin Ruff, Joe Ruff and Kenneth Ruff; one sister, Lorene Edwards; and one great-granddaughter, Gracie June Newton, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Burnett of Benton and Mike and Melodie Burnett of Cape Girardeau; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel Sue and Wayne Noe and Mary Lou and Dale Fish of Sikeston; two brothers, Elbert Ruff and Bill Ruff both of Sikeston; three sisters, Alma Curry and Ruth Holman both of Sikeston and Reba McDonnold of Blodgett; seven grandchildren, Doyle (Kris) Noe III, Jeffery (Brenna) Burnett, Molly Burnett, Jeremy Burnett, Melissa McDowell, Rachel (Tommy) Raley and Rachel (Bobby) Newton; and 12 great-grandchildren, Brylie Noe, Kylie Noe, Ellie Noe, Brooklyn Hawkins, Jordan Burnett, Alaina Burnett, Mallory Burnett, Landen Burnett, Ethan Burnett, Kaiden Burnett, Christian Raley and Savannah Raley.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where funeral services will be held at noon Monday, May 1. The Rev. Dale Fish will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be: Doyle Noe, Jeffery Burnett, Tommy Raley, Bobby Newton, Doug Ruff and Tim Holman.
