Sylvia Carden

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Sylvia Jean Carden, 79, died Oct. 6, 2017, at her home in East Prairie.

Born Oct. 15, 1937, in Dorena, Mo., to the late Harry Albert and Margaret M. Campbell Parks, she lived all her life in East Prairie where she worked as a secretary for Shelby Funeral Home for 47 years.

On Dec. 18, 1953, in Mississippi, she married Cage Milo Carden, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1992.

Survivors include: one son, Dennis Milo Carden and Angie Moore of Charleston, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melisa and Robert Weaver of Newalla, Okla. and Heather and Jeremiah Driscoll of Seaside, Calif.; one sister, Shirley Decenso of Cooter; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Parks and Larry Parks; and four sisters, Peggy Bennett, Anita Ray, Sheila Parks and Sharon Parks.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with Verlon Pritchett officiating.

Shelby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
