HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Kenneth Dwight Bird, 78, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017.
Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Kewanee, Mo., he was the son of the late Kenneth and Catherine Bradley Bird. On Dec. 20, 1958, in Parma, Mo., he married Martha Jean Meadows, who survives of the home. He graduated from Arkansas State College in 1961 with a degree in accounting. Dwight returned to Kewanee in 1964 to start his career in the agricultural business. He was the owner and manager of Kewanee Grain, Inc and later served as the general manager of Delta Growers Association. He retired in February of 2001. In 2010, he and Martha moved to South Carolina to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Bird Brown of Bluffton and Kathy Bird Hussong (Rick) of Hilton Head; and four grandsons, Kamden Dwight Brown, Kristopher Jordan Brown, Jacob Richard Hussong and Ethan Kenneth Hussong. He is also survived by his loving sister, Gail Bird Johnson of Sikeston, Mo., and his brother-in-law, Charles Meadows (Barbara) and family.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Nunnelee Funeral Home in Sikeston with a memorial service to begin at 11:30 a.m.
