JACKSON, Mo. -- Ronald Leslie Jaynes, formerly of Parma, Sikeston and Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Oct 13, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
Born April 21, 1946, in Hayti, son of the late Leslie and Helen Jaynes, he was a former sports editor for The Daily Standard in the 1970s and owned and operated many small newspapers in Southeast Missouri up until his retirement.
In March 1975, he married Betty Newton who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Debbie Jaynes of Sikeston; three daughters and their spouses, Ronda and Mike Marshall of Asheville, N.C., Ramona and Mike Cox of St. Louis and Brooke Jaynes and Justin Wissmann of Cape Girardeau; two sons and their spouses, Mark and Teea Jaynes of Sikeston and Grant and Jina Jaynes of Chaffee; and 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Jaynes; one sister and brother-in-law, Roxann and Larry McRoy; and two sons, Tim Jaynes and Matthew Jaynes.
A memorial service will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau.
