Jimmy Spears
NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Jimmy M. Spears, 82, died Dec. 18, 2017, at his home.
Born Feb. 26, 1935, in Piggott, Ark., to the late Robert and Inez McMullen Spears, he was employed at Noranda Aluminum for 25 years until his retirement and was a member of Steelworkers 7686.
He was first married to Gracie Spencer Spears, and she preceded him in death. He then married Judy Hays Spears, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Jimmy Spears Jr. of Gideon; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Terry and Larry Lawrence of Gideon; Janet and Ed Weaver of Jonesboro, Ark.; Kathy and Roy Huckabee of Gideon; Dana Stitz of Alabama; one sister, Carolyn Grooms of Portageville; one brother, Glen Spears of New Madrid; and 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra; two brothers; one sister; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Madrid Baptist Church. Gene Lancaster will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Portageville City Cemetery.
