ORAN, Mo. -- John Franklin Johnson, 90, died Feb. 21, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 2, 1927, in Advance, son of Frank and Mable Ellis Johnson, he had been a farmer for over 60 years and was a member of the Bell City United Methodist Church and Methodist Men. He first joined the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Army Reserves. He served in the Korean War. He had been a Boy Scout Leader. He had served on the Board of Director for Southeast Coop Services and also had been on the Bell City Board of Education.

On July 15, 1950, in Bell City, he married JoAnn Rendleman, who preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, John F. (Pat) Johnson of Advance and Michael Ray (Jackie) Johnson of Painton; two daughters, Patty Sue (Kurt) Kamp of Patton and Ella Jo (Kevin) Hughes of Benton; a sister, Margaret Vedder of St. Louis; and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bell City United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Morgan Funeral Home of Advance is in charge of arrangements.
