Verdell Hooe

ORAN, Mo. -- Verdell Hooe, 99, died Sept. 22, 2016, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee.

Born Aug. 16, 1917, in Hartman, Ark., to the late Ben and Leora Pyron Phillips, she was a homemaker. A charter member of the Hooe Baptist Church in Oran, she played the piano at church and taught adult women's Sunday school class for many years.

On June 5, 1943, she married William Edward Hooe, who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1987.

Also she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Phillips of Oran.

Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law Dennis E. and Sherry Hooe of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Leonard Glastetter of Oran; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hooe Baptist Church in Oran with the Rev. Kenneth Shoemaker officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley.
