Virginia Dennis

ORAN, Mo. -- Virginia Lucille Dennis, 94, died Sept. 23, 2016, at her home.

Born June 1, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, to the late James and Minnie Ditterline Simmons, she was a retired machine operator for Venture Products in Oran. She was a member of Oran Baptist Church, the Sikeston Eagles and Morley V.F.W.

On Dec. 1, 1940, she married Walter Keith Dennis, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1970.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers Paul Simmons and Jim Simmons; one sister Marcella Elledge; and one grandson Larry Joe Keith Dennis.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Gracie Dennis of Oran and Joe and Debbie Dennis of Chaffee; five grandchildren, Pete Dennis and Robin Emerson of Oran, Ricky Dennis of New Hamburg, Dianne McGowan of Benton and Ricky Joe Dennis of Chaffee; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran with the Rev. Bryan Gill officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
