Mona Scheeter

SIKESTON - Mona K. Scheeter, 72, died Feb. 12, 2017, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born March 10, 1944, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to the late Fred and Eunice (Rutter) Sutton, she was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and had worked for Wohl/Brown Shoe Company before retiring.

In March of 1988 she married Kenny Scheeter; he preceded her in death in September of 2002.

She is survived by three children, the children of Derrel Ray, Shane and his wife, Teresa Ray, and Sonya Ray all of Benton, Mo., and her son, Alan Scheeter of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Jerry Sutton of Mountain Grove, Mo., and Larry Sutton of Lebanon, Mo.; three sisters, Jan Hall of Tulsa, Okla., Violet Cavaness of Houston, Mo., and Cathy Freeman of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Hailey Crump of Little Rock, Ark., Shae Rapien, Gaven Ray, Jordan Baldwin and Carlee Ray all of Benton, Mo., and Daniel Ray of Cabot, Ark.; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi Crump of Little Rock, Ark., and Pyper Rapien of Benton, Mo.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Sherry Sutton, Shirley Sutton, Marcia Head and Betty Brown.

Visitation will be held Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton at 10 a.m. Father Michael Casteel, pastor of St. Denis Catholic Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery in New Hamburg, Mo.
