DEXTER, Mo. - Jess Marion Brown Jr., 88, died Feb. 12, 2017 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 29, 1928, in Frisco, the son of the late Jess Marion Sr. and Lura Mae Wilson Brown, he grew up in Frisco before moving to California. He
returned to Dexter in 1988 after retiring as postmaster of Santa Ana,
Calif. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Frisco and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.
On May 19, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Colleen Marie Robinson, who preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2008.
Also he was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Tippen, Myrtle Millington, Ruth Coffey, Clara Baker and Willene Swinger and two brothers, Lloyd Brown and Lester Brown.
Surviving are one brother, Bob Lee Brown of Dexter and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Rev. James Malloy of Essex officiating.
