SIKESTON- Dixie Satterfield, 72, passed away at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017.

She was born Dec. 5, 1944, in St. Louis to the late Richard and Lois Young Byrd.

She graduated from Scott County Central High School in 1962, attended Southeast Missouri State University, and went on to become a valued and loyal employee of Cummins Mid-South LLC, retiring in 2013 after over 40 years of service. She also worked as a real estate agent at Century 21 in Sikeston, and was a member of Miner Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and playing cards with her close friends, "The Canasta Girls." She brightened the lives of those around her by using her artistic talents to make special handmade gifts and special treats. Some would say she was the "Martha Stewart" of the family.

She is survived by her daughter Jami Francescon and her husband, John Francescon, and their daughter, Ella Jane, of Nashville Tenn.; one brother, Richard Byrd Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two sisters, Sandy Sitzes of Sikeston and Beth Ann Musgrave of Cape Girardeau. She is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousin and long-time friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Matthews, pastor of Cape County Cowboy Church, will officiate.
