MCGEE, Mo. - William Eugene Carver, 86, died June 20, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Born March 11, 1931, in Missouri, son of the late William Franklin and Lillian Versie Walker Carver, he had lived in the Puxico and McGee areas all of his life. MCGEE, Mo. - William Eugene Carver, 86, died June 20, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Born March 11, 1931, in Missouri, son of the late William Franklin and Lillian

Versie Walker Carver, he had lived in the Puxico and McGee areas all of his life. The owner and operator of Carver Pallet Mill and Carver Log Homes, he was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War and attended the Berrong Baptist Church near Gipsy.

On May 26, 1951, he married Nadine A. Hefner, who preceded him in death on

March 12, 2003. On Aug.14, 2004, in Zalma, he married Dorothy Lemons, who survives of McGee.

Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Richard Smith of McGee and Barbara and Butch Grasham of Trusdale; four sisters,

Maxine Duniphan and Lucille Colbert of Granite City, Ill., Ada

Cobourn of Springfield, Ill., and Eula Beck of St. Louis; and four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary R. Carver; one sister, Ruth Payne; and two brothers, Earl and Jerry Carver.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Lee Roy Hefner of McGee will officiate.

Interment will follow at the New Hope Cemetery near McGee.
