Ray Dowd
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Ray Dowd, 85, died July 31, 2017, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
Born March 18, 1932, in Hayti, to the late Sidney Lee Dowd Sr. and Sarah Beatrice Rafferty Dowd, he worked as a conductor for Frisco Railroad Co. and later Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee. He retired in 1993. He was member of the UTU union and a member of the Chaffee Elks 1810. He also served in the Air Force form 1951 to 1954.
On Oct. 29, 1960, he married Linda Rose Jones, and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2015.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Dawn Dowd of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren, Lexi and Austin Dowd both of Charleston; and one sister in-law Ella Dowd of Chaffee.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. An Elks service will be at 7 p.m.
