Gene Day

SIKESTON -- David Eugene "Gene" Day Jr., 65, died Sep. 12, 2017, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 24, 1951, in St. Louis, son of the late David E. Day Sr. and Betty Lou Thieman Day, he was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church and worked as a dispatcher for Reliable Freight and SEMO both in Sikeston and Faith Global in Bertrand.

On Aug. 6, 1977, he married Connie Webb; she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two sons, Stanley Eugene Parham and Michael Day of Sikeston; one stepdaughter, Sheila Parham of Sikeston; one brother, Cameron "Bill" Elliott of St. Louis; and one sister, Cindy Henderson of St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
