Robert Cooper Sr.

SIKESTON -- Robert Wesley Cooper Sr., 88, died Nov. 6, 2017, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Feb. 15, 1929, in Crowder, to the late Charles D. Cooper and Laura Bacon Cooper, he worked as a roofer before retiring.

On Dec. 20, 1952, he married Mary Lee Summerlott Cooper; she preceded him in death in him in May 1994.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Michael Cooper; two brothers, Jerry Cooper and Charles D. Cooper Jr.; and two sisters, Anna Charlene Cooper and Paula Cannon.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Cooper Jr. of Sikeston and Charles and Teresa Cooper of Murray, Ky.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilynn and Randy Grogan of Sikeston; two brothers, James Cooper (Pauline) of St. Louis and Paul Cooper (Gerslyn A.) of the Philippines; and seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston. The Rev. Larry Kirby will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
