PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- W. C. Norris Sr., 93, died Dec. 10, 2017, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Marion, Ark., to the late Harry and Lenora White Norris, he served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He earned an Army of Occupation Ribbon (Japan), two Overseas Service Bars Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with one Bronze Star and a Victory Ribbon Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He attended church at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon and a member of the choir.
His wife, Annie Bell Hicks Norris, survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: four sons and two daughters-in-law, W.C. and Doris Norris Jr. of Hayti, Terry Norris of Marston, Johnny A. and Sherlene Norris of Sikeston and Ray C. Norris of Portageville; one daughter, Barbara Norris of Chicago; and 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from non until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Portageville with his son, W.C. Norris Jr., pastor, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
