SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man faces charges following a vehicle pursuit Sunday.
At 3:14 p.m. Sunday officers with Sikeston DPS were involved in a vehicle pursuit that began near East. Malone and Pine Street. According to Sgt. Jon Broom, public information officer with Sikeston DPS, the suspect vehicle failed to yield to officers attempting to make a traffic stop after it was spotted driving erratic on East Malone. The vehicle failed to yield and continued west on East Malone through the Main Street intersection. The suspect vehicle turned onto Branum from West Malone at a high rate of speed and crashed into 908 W. Malone (Moorish Kings Restaurant) rolling over several times.
Officers observed two people crawl out of the broken back passenger window that appeared to be juveniles. Two other suspects fled on foot and after a short foot chase, the driver was taken into custody. He was identified as Kendarious Young, 18, of Sikeston. The fourth suspect was able to get away. Young was arrested and issued several traffic citations.
Sikeston code enforcement officers were contacted and responded do to the damage caused by the suspect vehicle crashing into the building.
