According to Mississippi County Sheriff Cory Hutcheson, the investigation began last week when deputies received information methamphetamine was being distributed by Jason Sharp from an address in rural Mississippi County.

During the investigation, several deputies conducted surveillance to develop probable cause to believe methamphetamine was being sold from the residence and then used the information they compiled to obtain a search warrant for the home.

The search warrant was served early Saturday by Mississippi County sheriff's deputies with assistance from the Scott County canine handler and officers from the Charleston Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The search yielded a large amount of marijuana, methamphetamine, U.S. currency, scales, baggies and other items indicative of large scale drug distribution taking place within the home.

Following the search, Jason Sharp and Youlanda Sharp were placed under arrest and transported to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

As of press time, both parties remain in the Mississippi County Detention Center. Bond for Jason Sharp was set at $200,000 while Yolanda Sharp's bond was set at $25,000.

The sheriff reminded residents that all drug tips will be investigated and all sources will remain confidential.
