SIKESTON - A 16-year-old Sikeston resident wanted in connection with a shooting has turned himself in to authorities.
According to Capt. Jim McMillen, the juvenile, who authorities have not named, was brought by his mother to Sikeston DPS headquarters on Thursday.
"The Scott County juvenile office was contacted and responded to Sikeston DPS headquarters where (the juvenile) was interviewed and later transported to the Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center," Capt. Jim McMillen reported in a news release.
On March 26, DPS officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Kendall. Officers at the scene were able to determine the shooting actually occurred at a residence in the 300 block of West Gladys where the victim was sitting on the couch near where a bullet came through the wall. Witnesses said when they heard the shots the victim got up and was struck by a bullet. Also struck was vehicle in the front of the residence.
The gunshot victim was taken by personal vehicle to Missouri Delta Medical Center. The victim was treated and released but is expected to have some follow-up treatments, McMillen said.
