POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Sometime during the month of December, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E officers will conduct three driving while intoxicated saturation enforcement operations in the region. The operations will be conducted by the Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, according to Capt. Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E in Poplar Bluff. "Special enforcement operations such as these enable the Missouri State Highway Patrol to enhance our efforts in removing impaired drivers from our highways," Vitale said. "Driving while impaired continues to be a major contributing factor of traffic crashes in Missouri." The only 100 percent survivable crash is the one that never happens, he said. "Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint," Vitale said. "Every day as we travel on Missouri's roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention and drive sober."
