EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- The City of East Prairie's city administrator has announced his retirement in the new year.
East Prairie Mayor Kevin Mainord, along with the Board of Alderman, issued a news release this week to inform the public of City Administrator Lonnie Thurmond's announcement to retire.
The Council received Thurmond's letter announcing his plans during Tuesday's executive session, following its regular monthly meeting.
"The Board of Alderman would like to express their thanks for the many years of dedication and loyalty to the city and its citizens," Mainord said. "We wish Lonnie the very best in his future endeavors."
Thurmond has agreed to continue to work and assist the city until March 31, 2018, while it advertises and searches for a new administrator.
