SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man faces multiple felony charges after a verbal argument with a friend escalated into an alleged assault late Thursday.

Fredrick Bernard Moore, 19, is charged with the following felonies: first degree assault, armed criminal action, first degree tampering with a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon, according to online court records.

At 10:55 pm. Thursday officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to the 600 block of Vaughn Avenue in reference to the report of a stolen vehicle and gunshots fired, according to Lt. Austin Henley with Sikeston DPS.

According to the probable cause statement, Moore on Thursday allegedly contacted the victim, who was his friend, and told her to come to his house. When the woman arrived, Moore came out of the house and got inside the woman's vehicle, where the two got into a verbal argument. The woman told police she got scared and exited the vehicle, and Moore allegedly tried to push her against a car.

The woman said she got away and started running. As she was running, she said Moore told her he would shoot her. She said she heard gunshots and continued running.

Moore also allegedly stole the woman's car and went to Clayton Park in Sikeston where he left the car parked and left the scene.

Police later recovered a firearm, and Moore was arrested early Friday. He transported to the Scott County Jail, where he remained with bond set at $100,000 cash only.
