Two in custody in Scott County shooting
BENTON, Mo. — Two Sikeston men face felony charges for their alleged involvement in a shooting early Monday in Scott County.
At 3:48 a.m. Monday, Scott County Sheriffs’ Office received a report of a man with a gunshot wound walking on State Highway HH near Sikeston, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. Upon officers’ arrival, they made contact with the victim who was identified as Matthew Williams of Sikeston.
Williams said he had been shot numerous times while at a residence in rural Scott County. After Williams was shot, the suspect(s) left the scene in Williams’ vehicle.
Williams was transported to a local hospital and later transported to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. As of late Monday afternoon, Williams was listed in stable, but serious condition.
Scott County deputies located the crime scene at an abandoned residence on county road 472, and a search began for Ronald Langley and Dylan James-Ray Nobles ensued.
By 3:30 p.m. Monday, Langley had turned himself into authorities. About 6:45 p.m. Monday, Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury confirmed Nobles and the vehicle were located by Cape Girardeau Police.
Nobles, 19, is charged with the following felonies: first degree assault causing serious physical injury; first degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and first degree tampering with a motor vehicle, according to online court records.
Formal charges are still pending against Langley.
Bond for Nobles is set at $100,000 cash only and he is ordered to have no contact with the victim.
