SIKESTON — A Sikeston man faces a felony weapons charge after allegedly threatening another person with a shotgun Wednesday in Sikeston.
Jotorius Raheem Mitchell, 20, is charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor peace disturbance, first offense, according to online court records.
At 3:19 p.m. Wednesday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to the 200 block of North Handy Street in reference to a report of weapon brandishing, according to DPS reports. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with a female who said she was at the house and a male — who was later identified as Mitchell — came and got into a verbal altercation with her about his brother’s vehicle. During the argument, Mitchell allegedly pulled a shotgun out of the car, waved it around and made threats to shoot at the house. Then, the female told police, he put the gun back in the car and someone else left in the vehicle, leaving Mitchell at the scene. Mitchell was arrested for the incident. The vehicle was located in the 500 block of Delmar Street, and the shotgun was recovered from the vehicle, said Lt. Austin Henley with Sikeston DPS.
The driver of that vehicle, Devontay D. Price, 17, of Sikeston was arrested on a felony charge of tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, according to online court records.
Bond for Mitchell was set at $15,000 cash or surety, and he posted bond Thursday. He is schedule to appear in Scott County court at 9 a.m. May 16. Price is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. May 15 in Scott County Court.
