The annual Community Day sponsored by the Portageville Jaycees will now be a two day event starting Friday, June 29 through Saturday, June 30.
New this year, the Portageville Jaycees will host a St. Louis BBQ Society Sanctioned BBQ Contest with HUGE prize money up for grabs that's sure to attract a large crowd!. You are not required to participate both days but are more than welcome to do so.
Categories will include: Chicken, Ribs, Port, Beef Brisket with a $4,500 in Payout.
The Prize breakdown is as follows: Grand Prize is $1,000, Reserve Grand Prize is $500, and Third Place Prize is $300. There will also be category winners ranging from $25.00 up to $250.00
The team registration is $175.00, the $200 after May 31.$25.00 dues to SLBS in not already a member.
On Friday night, there will be a Wing War. Turn in your entries by 7:30 PM. There is a $20 entry fee and a 75 percent Payback. Winner takes all cash and award.

Other events happening throughout the two-day event include Live Music, Crafts, Bounce House, Petting Zoo, Food, Pageants, Kids games and activities, 5K Run, Pig Races and Fireworks.
Additionally, Girls throughout the Missouri Bootheel will have an opportunity to register for the Mr. and Miss Fourth of July Beauty Pageant. Tentatives plans are to have the annual Fourth of July Beauty pageants on Saturday, June 30 at the Meatte Memorial Park.
The pre-registration fee will be $30 for ages 2-19. Registration fee on the day of the pageant will be $35.00. All contestants ages 2-19 should be at the park no later that 9:30 AM. If you are not there on time, there will be no waiting. The pageant will go on. Dress requirements will be Casual 4th of July attire (Red/White and Blue) for all age groups. Pageant wear will result in points deducted or disqualification. Please come prepared to go on stage, no dressing rooms are available.
Pageant age groups are:
Tiny Miss and Mr. 4th of July - 2-4 Years
Little Miss and Mr. 4th of July - 5-6 Years
Petite Miss 4th of July - 7-9 Years
Pre-teen Miss 4th of July - 10-12 Years
Junior Miss 4th of July - 13-15 Years
Miss 4th of July - 16-19 Years
All age groups will run back to back with crowning after every other age group. Winners of the pageant categories will receive a tiara for girls and boys will receive a crown and trophy.

Early Registration is strongly recommended and may be dropped off to Jennifer McMillen or Tiffany Staffey and may also be emailed.
There will also be a Pretty Baby Photo Contest. The entry fee is $5.00 per photo. The photo should be no larger than 5x7 with No Frame. Photos can be dropped at Portageville Primary Care to Jennifer McMillen now to June 29th between 8 AM – 5 PM. Photos will be accepted the day of the contest before 9:30am.
The Pretty Baby Photo Contest age groups are: Tiny Baby Miss & Mr. 4th of July: 0-12 months; and Baby Miss & Mr. 4th of July 13-24 months.
Winners of the photo contest will be announced during the pageant proceedings.
